CocoaRadio interviews Rory Prior of ThinkMac Software

I'm not so big headed to think that everyone is on the edge of their seats waiting for me to post the next CocoRadio podcast but feel it's been too long in the making. I hope you enjoy the results of the new recording setup.

In this podcast, Rory Prior of ThinkMac Software in the U.K. talks about coming to the Mac from Java among other learning experiences. While his application, NewsMac, was one of the first RSS news readers on the Mac it's only fairly recently that he's joined the ranks of Cocoa developers. He also offers some advice to operating a Mac software business from the U.K. I hope you find his story inspiring and informative.

Please post your questions and comments and Rory will likely chime in.

Rory is offering a coupon for NewsMac Pro good for 20% off good until the 20th of November. You will need to enter the following code as part of the order process to get the discount: CPN8920757989

One more thing: this is the first AAC Enhanced podcast from CocoaRadio - props to Marc Nothrop in Tasmania, Australia for volunteering his time and energy. Please comment or email with your thoughts and suggestions.

Available via iTunes channel or direct download AAC Enhanced  (if excluding the mp3 causes an uproar, I'll upload it in another post)

Is it just me or...

The download link doesn't work, and the iTunes link goes your podCast ok, but this interview doesn't seem to be there..?

I just updated podcast in iTunes and it's downloading for me. There always seems to be a snag with these enclosures. Let me know if it's stil a problem.

Nop, still no joy - even restarted iTunes..

Could be 'cause i'm in Australia?

Can you just make the direct-download link live so I can get my cup of radio cocoa?

Cheers.

Here's the AAC direct link: http://www.archive.org/download/CocoaRadioCocoaRadiowithRoryPrior/CocoaRadio_with_RoryPrior.m4b

Ugh..

"Error reading XML data"

(which is same error i was getting with your link in the posting)

:-(

Oh, hey Duncan (!), yeah I'm currently getting the same problem with iTunes and the archive.org download link. Maybe there's a problem with archive.org?

FYI - all working now, on the Australian iTunes download, I'm not sure how localised the issue was, but the episode seems to have propagated through mirrors, proxies etc.

Happy downloading. :)

I think that was your best show ever! I really like how you got into some specific programming questions like when you asked Rory about whether he uses Cocoa Bindings.

It's great to hear the perspectives of some notable Cocoa programmers, especially some of their opinions on specific topics.

Great work, Blake.

Dave - glad to hear you liked it : ) that must mean a few other did to statistically speaking. It was helpful that code questions were submitted; something I only recently began requesting. I'll post again for new guest by tomorrow.

One question that I think should be standard. At least a question that interests me greatly:

Is the interviewee a full time Cocoa independent developer or do they have some form of "day" job and their Cocoa development is a side job.

I would love to know the status of each interviewee, kind of gives us an idea of how many are out there living the dream.

I especially liked the "Hey hon, I'm recording, call me back in twenty minutes"-episode at around 8min. or so! :-D
